About AspergerChild, Asperger Syndrome and Nelle Frances
Welcome! AspergerChild.com's aim is to provide parents, carers, families, educators and professionals with reliable knowledge, information and support in their journey with Autism Spectrum Condition (Asperger's Syndrome). Here at AspergerChild we focus on the 9 Sensory Systems, and how sensory input drives behaviour. Our training programs and workshops are designed to teach you to decode ALL behaviour from a sensory perspective. We stand by our belief that "the answer is always sensory!"
Our mission is to recognise and validate the thoughts and perspective of an Asperger child through the power of the written word, and in doing so promote acceptance, understanding and tolerance in the communities surrounding autistic individuals.
Nelle is very proactive in raising awareness of Autism Spectrum condition and encouraging others to do the same.
We hope to empower you to take control of your personal journey with Asperger's Syndrome / Autism and create a positive path forward, as you support and accommodate your Asperger child.
AspergerChild.com and the Ben and His Helmet book series were created by Nelle Frances, a Special Needs Educator with more than 25 years experience working with children in Primary and High Schools, her clinical practice and she is also the parent of a child with Asperger's Syndrome.
What is Asperger Child from Nelle Frances on Vimeo.
Nelle grew extremely frustrated by the lack of resources available that told it like it is; from an Asperger child's point of view. Relevant and appealing children's books within the fiction genre were almost non-existent.
Nelle believes that all behaviour is a form of communication and that for those on the Autism Spectrum all behaviour is driven by sensory needs. Once this is recognised parents, carers and teachers are better able to accommodate the Asperger child's needs.
Nelle's passionate in her support of children and adults with Asperger's Syndrome and works to mentor them towards self-advocacy. She regularly speaks at Conferences and Seminars about her books and her personal journey with Asperger's Syndrome.

When Nelle's not racing around after her children or scribbling notes about new stories, she likes to cook exotic meals and read books about anything and everything!
I'm a Special Needs Educator with over 16 years experience working with children on the Autistic Spectrum, from Elementary School through to University age. I've applied my knowledge and experience to create books and programs for children and adults on the Spectrum, with a strong focus on sensory driven behaviour and reactions. The Ben and His Helmet books series; Asperger Child - Simply Explained; the Sustainable Social Skills program; and the Sensory Awareness Training program.
I understand how essential it is to have access to sound advice and positive anecdotal evidence, especially in the early days after diagnosis, when you're struggling to make the diagnosis fit the actual picture of your child.
I'm passionate about changing the perception of ASD from being a behavioural condition, to a neurodiverse condition, that impacts brain processes, gastro-intestinal and immune system functioning.
I've endeavoured to provide you with a comprehensive description of Asperger's Syndrome within the pages of this website, to help make the pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
I hope to empower you to take control of your personal journey with Asperger's Syndrome and create a positive path forward, as you support and accommodate your Asperger child.
